BUILDING A SOCIAL CARE CENTRE IN DROHOBYCZ – UKRAINE
So we invite you to support this project financially instead of bringing gifts and/or other things for the chapter members.
In the city of Drohobycz, Ukraine, the Brothers of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God are providing support through their social care centre:
- Nursing and rehabilitation care (for bedridden residents, lonely elderly people, large families). The Brothers support the needy in their homes by providing food, care, rehabilitation exercises, medicines, hot meals, water and fuel.
- Social care – for residents in the Drohobycz area and for displaced persons from eastern Ukraine currently staying in the Drohobycz area (distributing food parcels, medicines, personal hygiene products and small medical devices)
- For parishes: supporting the pastors in their liturgical ministry, offering material assistance for residents of eastern Ukraine (Kherson), distributing gifts to poor and lonely parishioners, and organising Christmas get-togethers.
New Project
By agreement with the Polish Provincial Government, the Brothers have taken the initiative to build a new centre for poor and lonely elderly people. It is planned to broaden the work of the social care centre with a medical outpatient clinic, ans provide medical care for invalids injured during the war.
Due to the conflict, the number of people hosted by the Brothers of St. John of God in Ukraine have increased dramatically. With the Order's help, thousands of people have been receiving the care they need during the war.
In Ukraine, the numbers of people in desperate situations is constantly on the increase. This is yet one more reason for promoting this new project in Drohobycz, for which they are asking the Order's Provinces for their assistance.
